Chocolate Horse Pops & S'mores Pops
I searched Amazon for a chocolate horse mold. This is the mold I found for a whoppin' 2 bucks. The cake design changed, so we came up with another idea for the chocolate horse mold- we'd make Giddy Up Pops! The mold isn't made for pops, but we figured it out...
For the solid chocolate horses, simply melt chocolate and pipe the chocolate into the mold. When filled, tap the mold to settle the chocolate. Place in the fridge for 5 minutes to set. Remove from the fridge and tap the mold on the counter to release the horses. The solid chocolate horses were pretty, but we wanted to try to make painted horses. The painted horses take only one more step. Pipe milk or dark chocolate over the mane, tail and hooves in the mold and then add random spots. Pipe white chocolate to fill the mold.
Once the horses set and are removed, you'll pipe some melted chocolate on the back side of the horse and place a stick. Pipe more chocolate over the stick and allow the chocolate to set.
The giddy part was removing the painted horses from the mold and they were fanstastic! Here are both versions:
The horse pops were made 2 days prior to the party, so we stored them in an airtight container on top of wax paper in a cool location. While the white chocolate was still soft/melted, we dipped sticks and placed them in marshmallows for the s'mores pops.
We've been making regular campfire s'mores this way for years. Melt the chocolate, dip the
Store in an airtight container to keep the marshmallows fresh:
The pop stand was made from a tree that snapped in half near my house a couple of weeks ago during a storm. I sawed off a portion of the tree and then drilled holes to use as a cake pop holder.
If hosting a party in the sun like we did, put the chocolate pops out at the last possible moment.
