Cutting Edge Indian Arrows Wall Stencil

I didn't realize how bare my master bathroom had been until I finally figured out what I wanted to do with the walls.  I knew I wanted to paint, but didn't want to commit to a color.  The bathtub, sinks and tile surrounding the bathtub & shower are bright white, but the walls/trim are a creamy white. As soon as I saw the Indian Arrows all-over wall stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils, I purchased the stencil from my phone.

 I cleared everything off the counter and removed the rugs, but the walls were already blank.

I recommend purchasing the leveling tool from Cutting Edge Stencils.  I was in a rush to order the stencil and missed that they added it as an accessory.  From what I've read from other projects, the Cutting Edge level is well worth the cost.

I would guess the most time consuming part was leveling the stencil each time. I selected 5 paint colors and used 5 different stencil brushes. I don't like to visually pick up on a repetitive pattern (which ultimately kept me from purchasing the birch all-over wall stencil a few years ago), so I was careful with my color selection.  I don't mind the alternating colors going horizontal, but did not want to be able to pick up a repeat in the vertical color pattern.

My walls are textured and the stencil worked great on the uneven surface. When I got about this far I started thinking I better not get sick of this pattern any time soon.

 Stenciling is a labor of love.  I started at 2:30pm and ended at 10:30pm for this wall:

Here it is about 40 days later. My dad asked if the arrows are how I find the toilet.  Ha ha.

I am drawn to arrows and feathers and use them in my decor throughout my home. For me, the arrows symbolize Arjuna from the Bhagavad Gita. He is an archer going into battle and must fulfill his dharma, or purpose. The arrow pattern is a good reminder to "follow your arrow"- a good way to start my day and end my day.

I accessorized with accents I already had around the house. I had two large black frames with black and white prints I didn't love, so I removed the prints and added the weathered plank wallpaper I thought I'd use when I bought it 2 year ago. One frame hangs above the bathtub and the other above the toilet. I took down the small wall shelf from my daughter's room and grabbed the lotus tealight holder from the top of the entertainment center.

The fox wall hook and NESW arrow picture were new purchases from Target. I've left that bottom right corner for now. I don't buy stuff just to buy it...I wait until I find something I really like and that's a spot I'll fill in another time.  

My favorite recent bathroom purchase:  Squatty Potty.  You must.  Best $30 you'll ever spend.  I'm not even kidding.  Just watch the unicorn video- at least for the laugh!  I've made my entire family watch. My brothers laughed all the way through the video.

Six years in my house and my bathroom is finally (almost) done. I spent the next day re-doing my daughter's bathroom. My son's bathroom is about ready for an update from the hand wall painting I did when we first moved in.
