Behind every good Disney movie, is an even better villain! You know, the character you love to dislike. Think Maleficent, Jafar, Cruella De Vil, The Evil Queen from Snow White. With the release of the new Disney original movie
Descendants this Friday at 8pm EST on the Disney Channel, we thought we'd spend our weekend getting (re)acquainted with Jafar from Aladdin.
While my kids have watched Aladdin a handful of times, I was surprised to learn my nieces hadn't ever watched Aladdin. To get into the spirit, we made Jafar masks while the movie was on pause.
Here are the supplies I grabbed at Walmart the other day for our Jafar masks: black and red foam sheets, glittery elastic cord, glitter glue, adhesive squares and scissors.
I demonstrated how to make a long narrow beard, mean eyebrows and thin mustache. If that's not spooky, I don't know what is. We laughed so hard when I shoved the mustache/beard up my nostrils to hold in place. "Mom! You look like a man!" Haaaaaahaaaa!
The kids got busy making their own variations of Jafar's facial hair.
How can you NOT laugh at this craft??
To complete the look, we cut large ovals of red foam for the jewel on Jafar's headpiece. We had intended to cover with the red glitter glue but decided we didn't want to wait on the dry time. It can be an option if you repeat this craft.

The next movie craft was an edible craft. The supplies we grabbed for this project were found in my most favorite aisle in Walmart- the Wilton baking supplies.
I was baking cookies for another occasion and cut several mustache cookies from the
sugar cookie dough.
You can bypass the cookies entirely and just use candy melts (which I will show below) for a faster edible craft.
I love the little fondant packs- perfect if you don't like to mix your own fondant and the perfect amount for detail work. You can also use black frosting, but the fondant is such an easy decorating shortcut for this cookie.
Bake the cookies, cool, roll out the black fondant and use the same mustache cookie cutter for the fondant. Smear a little frosting on the cookie to hold the fondant in place.
If you want to skip the cookies, just the candy melts by tracing the mustache cookie cutter on paper and place wax paper on top as a template for the melted candy melts. Let it set until firm. Peel from wax paper.
Place the warm candy melts on the back of the cookie and place a candy stick to hold the mustache over your face.

We are all excited for the July 31st premiere of Disney's
Descendants Friday at 8pm and will have our own viewing party.
