If I've learned anything as a mom, it's that kids love eating things off of a stick. For this backyard picnic, we discussed what we'd like to kabob. Here's what we came up with: Tyson® Any'Tizers®, caprese salad, fruit and s'mores. Start-to-finish, this picnic was made just by kids, for kids. Come check out the steps!First, we head to Walmart to the frozen food section to pick out 3 varieties of Tyson® Any'Tizers® for our main course kabob. We (she) selected Popcorn Chicken, Honey BBQ Boneless Wyngz and Chicken Fries Any'Tizers®. All made with all white chicken.
We also gathered the following ingredients for our other side dish kabobs: fruit, mozerella balls, cherry tomatoes and basil for the caprese kabobs and s'mores goodies.
My daughter lined a baking sheet with foil and preheated the oven while she lined up the 3 varieties of Any'Tizers® chicken. Protein packed!
Ready to pop into a preheated oven:
She kept watch while both kids began to prep all of the other ingredients for kabobs:
Stack cherry tomatoes, ball of mozzarella, and basil leaf...repeat. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar right before serving.
For the fruit kabobs, they got out the flower fruit cutter for the pineapple and then stacked cut cantaloupe, grapes, strawberries, blueberries and the flower shaped pineapple on top:Obviously, there were a few marshmallows lost in the prep of the s'mores kabob. Melt your chocolate, dip the marshmallow in the chocolate and then roll in a dish of crushed graham crackers.
What?! Dessert before dinner??
Any'Tizers® out of the oven and ready to skewer.
They waited for the chicken to cool enough to stack on the bamboo skewers.
Each skewer was placed in our homemade cakepop holder log (a log that I cut from a fallen tree and drilled holes to hold cakepop sticks)- perfect for a backyard picnic. We joked how the chicken kabobs could look like funny super heros. Think FANTASTIC FOUR:- Invisible Woman – Popcorn Chicken: Sue Storm is brilliant and beautiful, independent and sarcastic. The power to become invisible and to generate her own force-fields can make her harder to reach than ever—but that won't stop some of her teammates, especially Reed, from trying.
- Mr. Fantastic – Chicken Fries: Reed Richards is a scientific prodigy who has been quietly exploring the universe's deepest mysteries in his garage, after school. After being transformed by one of his experiments, he can stretch his body into impossible forms and to incredible lengths.
- The Thing - Honey BBQ Boneless Wyngz: A rare breed of brawn and heart, Ben Grimm is warm, even sensitive, despite his rough-and-tumble upbringing. He is rock-solid—in more ways than one. A loyal and protective friend, his stone body gives him epic strength and makes him virtually indestructible.
