2015 World Ski Championship Cookies

The countdown is on...actually, it has been on for years.  If you live in this area, you've seen more 2015 bumper stickers than political campaign stickers.  Vail/Beaver Creek ski resorts are hosting the 2015 World Ski Championships February 2-15, 2015.  We felt it needed a cookie.

New Year's Eve in Vail Village with the countdown clock.  Everything is plastered with the 2015 logo:  buses, gondolas, round abouts, logo wear...even the trees are dressed up for the events.
"Dream It.  Live It.  Share It."   Hmmmmm...pretty similar to "Worth Pinning:  Find it.  Do it.  Pin it."
Mix a batch of sugar cookie dough.  Recipe and baking instructions here.
This was royal icing left over from the gingerbread house making.  Recipe can be found here.  Icing technique, here.  The 2015 logo was piped with royal icing and sprinkled with red & blue sanding sugar.  Details were piped on top of the blue sanding sugar.
The snowflakes were piped with buttercream frosting and sprinkled with sanding sugar and candy pearls.
The ski racer and race course cookies were hand painted with food coloring.
The event site is here.  It'll be a big couple of weeks.  The kids get to go to the races for school.  I'm pretty psyched for the Michael Franti & Spearhead concert, American Authors on my birthday, Phillip Phillips, Mix Master Mike and more.  21 more days!
