Teal and Burlap Rag Wreath

I wasn't sure what to do with the round mossy straw wreath I disassembled a few months ago.  To keep the straw held together, I wrapped it in a wire edged burlap ribbon and secured with hot glue.  I figured I'd save the wreath for fall until I figured out how I wanted to use the wreath.

Here are the torn fabric strips used to tie onto the wreath.  I didn't use the teal print fabric for the wreath, but saved it for more bunting you'll see at the end of this post.

 Tie the fabric strips in a knot and line the knots up in the center of the wreath.

 Continue around the wreath.  If you want to add some fabric flowers leave a space.  Take long strips of the torn fabric and fold accordian style into the shape of a circle.  Stitch the center to hold.

I layered two of the larger circles, finished with a wooden bead and stitched the flowers to the burlap wreath section.  The 3 pendant bunting was cut out from some scraps and tied around the wreath.  Total time was approximately 1 hour.

For the remaining fabric strips, we created a door bunting by folding the top of the fabric over the heavy string, securing with a dab of hot glue.

 Here is the other rag bunting hung over the front door.  The printed fabric is a Premiere Prints fabric called Royal and we used it in my daughter's closet-turned-into-an-office.

 The front door rag bunting matches the bunting on the mantel.  We finished both bends with beading and drop cloth pendants and the Royal fabric.  I think it is a great alternative to a fall wreath hanging on the door.

The last piece was a wall hanging using the longer strips of the torn fabric.
