Re-Entry: redoing the accent wall

Before painting the back of the front door this fall, I started patching/painting the entry hallway wall.  I was pretty much over the beige.  It was a mis-mixed color I picked up for $5 and close enough to the color I was going for at the time.

Back then, I was into the cafe au lait/espresso combo.  It warmed an otherwise very cold space with tile leading from the front door all the way into the kitchen.  All of a sudden, I couldn't live with it another day.  From beige and espresso to gray and white:
The plain white front door.  I'm so glad I painted it teal.  It makes me happy to look down the hall and see the big pop of color.
 Spackle & sanding:
I've only painted this wall, for now, but may continue it on the wall of the front door.
The Ikea Ribba frames are perfect.  My "white" walls/trim/doors are actually more cream than white, so the cream mat works well.
The table is a $20 drive-by find.  Not sure what I'll end up doing with it.  I left it outside for several months to weather.  One day it will be fully sanded and stained or painted.  The candle holders are from Pier1 (tallest one was a clearance item a couple of years ago and the other two are as old but still in stock at Pier1).  The feather platter is from Target (clearance last year).
The antler was found on a dusk hike near our house.  The white fox is a current item at Pier1.  The candle stick was a $2 clearance item from some place like Ross that I was going to paint and instead stashed in the "I might use this for something" storage.  The faux cream pumpkins are a couple of years old from Target.

At some point I will also add a larger area rug, but I haven't fallen in love with a rug yet.  It is a high traffic area, so a light color might be high maintenance.

  1. What a great transformation! I am a sucker for that color of blue, as well! I love it, and it caught my eye at the C.R.A.F.T party--I had to stop by!

I would love it if you stopped by our Facebook page, and said "hello!"
